My name is Ashitha Aravindh, I live in Thrissur, Kerala. I am a consultant psychologist and an internationally Qualified Behavior Analyst. I have 10 years of experience in the field of ABA therapy. I pursued my first ABA certification as a Registered behavior technician( RBT) in 2017, later completed my certificate course in ABA from Saint Elizabeth University, New Jersey, US, and received Qualified Behavior Analyst (QBA) certification in the year 2022.

I have handled different roles starting from the direct instructor, team lead, and supervisor, and worked across different settings like ABA therapy center, Montessori, and Inclusive Schools in Bangalore. I am the initiator of Aaira Behavior Therapy Services, Thrissur, Kerala. I am also associated with a few rehabilitation centers across India in providing supervision and mentoring to parents and professionals. Currently, I am conducting various ABA training programs for individuals with neurodiversity, educators, and parents, across the globe, through direct and online consultations.

An evidence-based practice like ABA continues growing and research is updated every day, I envision spreading such knowledge to benefit the neurodiverse population, as young as possible. My long-term vision is to sensitize society to provide acceptance and understanding of neurodiversity and encourage ethically based interventions.

General Requirements for ABAT Credentialing 

To qualify for the ABAT credential, candidates must fulfill the following:  

  1. Eligibility: 
  1. Fieldwork and Supervision:
  • Complete 15 hours of supervised fieldwork.  
  • Supervisors must verify 1 hour of supervision for every 10 hours of independent fieldwork using the online verification system.  
  • Candidates must enroll in the coursework before beginning supervision hours.  
  1. Credentialing Process: 
  • Obtain a recommendation from a qualified supervisor.  
  • Undergo a criminal background check conducted by the QABA Board or provide employer certification confirming no status changes since the last background check.  
  • Successfully pass the accredited ABAT examination, proctored by Examity.  
  • Agree to the QABA Code of Ethics and meet all renewal requirements.  
  1. Certification and Renewal:
  • Credentials will be reviewed by the QABA Board for formal approval.  
  • Certified professionals will be listed on the public registry.  
  • Certification must be renewed every two years.
